“Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the ’60s, I was surrounded by an incredible music scene Early influences included The Animals, Beatles, Sam Cooke, then Stevie Wonder, Bobby Caldwell, and many others. My voice has been favorably compared to a host of artists including, Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Bobby Caldwell, Sam Cooke, and others. I think folks hear what they want to hear. My original tunes are Jazz(ish) with nods to my influences. You can’t help that! I have recorded songs from artists as varied as Sinatra, The Animals, Coltrane, Bill Henderson, Van Morrison, and Beatles to Bill Evans. If it has a great melody and lyrics, I’m in! After over 30 years of performing, I think I’ve found my own voice and style that is really just a synthesis of everything that I’ve listened to and loved. Some vocalists are fortunate enough to discover who they are early in their careers and bypass the stage of trying to imitate others. It has taken me a number of years to develop the confidence to present myself as an artist, and not just another band guy trying to get over with someone else’s sound.” ~ Mike Winkle
Wilf’s Restaurant & Jazz Bar at Union Station
Lunch. Dinner. Jazz. Local and Sustainable
A sustainable company, Wilfs is located on the perimeter of Portland’s Pearl and River districts at historic Union Station. Celebrating 45+ years in business, Wilfs remains a family-owned restaurant built on a legacy of fine dining and personal service. Just a few minutes from the Moda Center means you can dine from our main dinner menu or casual bar menu before your event – Blazers’ games, concerts, events, and more.
There’s a minimum charge per person for food and beverages during live entertainment.
Reservations are highly recommended for the dining room and lounge.
Jazz notes from the piano drift through the dining room, while in the lounge, you experience the music… upfront and personal. Wilfs has become the best venue to hear Portland’s jazz artists perform, and if you are lucky, national artists may “sit-in” or relax with the music, just like you! Reservations are strongly urged in our lounge.
Located at the foot of the Broadway Bridge, just off I-5, 405, and Banfield. Blocks from the Pearl District.
Important dining information. We have a 15-minute grace period. Please call us if you are running later than 15 minutes after your reservation time.
Easy parking available
Wilfs has a limited number of FREE RESERVED stalls in the lot across the street from Union Station, if our marked “Wilfs Reserved” stalls are full, the rest of the lot is “PAY TO PARK”. The PAY TO PARK machine is located on the right side of the entrance to the lot, not on the sidewalk.
